Short Biography

               Dr Heila Pienaar is Deputy Director: e-Information Strategy & e-Research Enablement in the Department of Library Services at the University of Pretoria. Her research focuses on e-information strategy formulation, digital library implementation, virtual research environments and data curation. 
               She has previously worked as a researcher and strategic innovation manager at the University of Pretoria, as a Lecturer at the Department of Information Science at the University of south Africa and as Information manager at the Directorate of Information Services, SA Defense Force. 
               Her interests and responsibilities include Library strategic management, Library e-Information Strategy, e-Information service and e-Research including digitization, research repositories and data curation.

Aspirations as submitted during the workshop (23rd & 24th October )
Imminent
•    Start implementing data management as soon as possible
•    Co-operation between South African stakeholders
•    An international listserv of experts should be available
2020
Keep in mind that new developments e.g. artificial intelligence will make data easier in the future
